Slough Children First celebrates carers with a pampering session for International Women’s Day

March 25, 2026

Foster carers from Foster with Slough (Slough Children First’s fostering agency) were treated to a pampering session in partnership with Slough & Langley College, in celebration of International Women’s Day.

It was a special day of relaxation and appreciation, which brought carers together for a morning focused on wellbeing, connection and recognition of the invaluable role they play in the lives of children and young people.

This year’s celebration offered twice the number of treatments, allowing even more carers to unwind and enjoy some well-deserved self-care. Treatments were provided by Slough & Langley College’s talented hair and beauty students and included mini manicures, mini facials, back massages, haircuts and blow dries.

Lucy Privett, Head of Professional Studies at Slough & Langley College, said:
“We are always proud to support our local carers who do so much for children and families in the community. This year, we were delighted to offer twice the number of treatments, so even more carers could enjoy a moment to relax. Our students loved being part of such a positive event, and it was wonderful to see the salons full of energy and appreciation.”

As part of the celebration, carers also received specially prepared goodie bags from Foster With Slough as a token of gratitude for their dedication and commitment.

Saima Arif, Head of Regulated Services at Slough Children First, said:
“Many of our foster carers are women who go above and beyond every day to provide stable, loving homes for children and young people. International Women’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognise their compassion, strength and dedication. Events like this give carers the chance to take some time for themselves, connect with one another and feel valued for the incredible difference they make.”

The event also provided a chance for carers to spend time together, share experiences and build supportive friendships within the fostering community.

Tanya, a foster carer and member of the Slough Fostering Association, said:
“I had the best massage ever and honestly feel so appreciated as a carer. Days like this mean so much, it’s lovely to feel recognised for the care we give every day.”

Foster carers play a vital role in providing safe, supportive homes for children and young people in Slough, helping them to grow, thrive and reach their potential.

Foster With Slough is encouraging more people to consider fostering and making a difference in a child’s life. Could you Foster with Slough?
